Read this if you are feeling insecure about your postpartum body

For the first time, I told Gabrielle Koster out loud that I hadn't started my YouTube channel because I'm currently not happy with how I look. As I was saying those words out loud, I thought, "Shida, you could make an EFT video about this." You are not the only one who is not always happy and content with her body. And so it happened.

In this blog, I want to share with you what constantly helps me love my "mom body." Because I, too, experience downs every now and then that limit me in my life. That is such a shame. Fortunately, I don't always let myself be guided by my insecurity. Because if I had, for example, I would never have started Bysanaah.nl and would never have been able to help you and more than 5,000 women with self-care tools.

Have you ever not done something because you weren't happy with your body at that moment? Then keep reading, because this blog is perfect for you!

When it comes to Black culture, it can be quite toxic. I used to think it was just a Ghanaian thing that when you run into an uncle or aunt, they greet you with: "OMG, you've gotten so fat!" or "You used to be so pretty, now you've ruined yourself" (Yes, I actually heard this one). These "greetings" made me feel very insecure.

I told this to my boyfriend and my girlfriends. The people around me indicated that when they looked at me, they didn't see a body, but a beautiful, loving person. Because of this, they found it difficult to see whether I had gained or lost weight. And if I had gained or lost weight, that was only important if I were happy with it.

I, too, look at the people around me with loving eyes. I see their soul, and I was definitely not focused on their body. Why should I concern myself with other people's insecurities? Just because they find weight more important than love doesn't mean I have to do the same.

I have decided to look at myself with loving eyes instead of the critical eyes of insecure people. It is easier said than done. These self-care tools still help me whenever I feel down.

Tip 1 Energetic release

Everything is energy. Even words carry a certain energy. When I was told that I had ruined myself because I had become fuller, these words definitely had an impact. In hindsight, I realize that these words were a manifestation of the insecurities I carried with me every day. It was a manifestation of the negative words I used to talk about myself. Our ego is constantly looking for a way to prove us right.

For example, when I was told I was pretty or beautiful, it didn't sink in. Because it didn't resonate with my ego. The negative words, on the other hand, had an impact because they aligned with what my ego thought of me. That is why it is time for new energy!

A self-care tool you can use for this is Dragon’s blood smudge. Dragon’s blood smudge can help you by attracting protection, wisdom, strength, and love. This makes you feel more confident and makes it easier to make choices. Another advantage is that Dragon’s blood smudge removes bad vibes so that you can finally relax.

How do you use Dragon's blood smudge? Use a smudge shell to burn your smudge. We have an abalone shell and a scallop shell to help you with that. A shell represents the element of water, air for smoke, herbs for earth, and the burning of the herbs for fire. This allows you to connect with the four elements and get closer to nature. Don't forget to open your windows so you can dispel bad energies and attract new ones. Treat yourself to a life full of positive energy, strength, and wisdom! Tip 2 Waist beads

Sometimes we need a loving reminder that it is okay to love your body. An easy and fun way is through waist beads. You wear waist beads for yourself and not for someone else. Traditionally, only your partner is allowed to see your waist beads, because waist beads are full of your own loving energy and intention. Take, for example, red waist beads. The chakra color red relates to self-awareness. This means that you are more aware of yourself as a human being on this planet. The color red in these waist beads promotes your passion, spontaneity, self-confidence, and courage. Click here to discover which waist beads perfectly match your intentions.

Tip 3 Emotional Freedom Technique

Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT, also known as tapping, is a form of psychological acupressure based on the ancient principles of acupuncture. Instead of putting needles into your body, EFT combines gentle tapping on key acupuncture points while you focus on pain, stress, uncomfortable emotions, panic attacks, memories, cravings, or other problems.

EFT is a form of therapy that helps the body rebalance itself and accelerates healing. Imbalance in the body causes, for example, illness, physical pain, anxiety, anger, etc. EFT balances the energy system and helps relieve psychological stress and physical pain.

EFT is easy to learn and apply. That is why it is popular among therapists. While you focus on a problem you want to release, affirmation and reminder phrases are repeated while you tap your fingers on different acupressure points on your body. You can achieve results within a few minutes. Are you curious about how this can help you? Go directly to this video and find my transformative EFT video there.

Tip 4 Crystals

A nice way to change your energy is through crystals. My favorite for this is Black Onyx. Black onyx is a very powerful stone, both emotionally and physically. This magical stone can strengthen your self-confidence and courage. It can also help you create stability by helping you ground yourself. Especially if you have (just) become a mother. During this emotional time, it can help you release old emotional wounds and grief. For the first 6 people who sign up for my Ubuntu Sisterhood waitlist, I have a beautiful Onyx necklace.
